The recently opened Tengah Bus Interchange is themed on Total Defence and features a new 130-metre-long walkway displaying murals symbolising the six pillars of Total Defence.

In conjunction with the 40th anniversary of Total Defence, and as part of Tengah Baru was once a military training ground, EasyTec, the operator of the Tengah Bus Interchange, has incorporated this historical feature into the interchange, setting up walkways to display murals related to Total Defence information.

Senior Minister of State for Sustainability and the Environment & Transport Dr Amy Khor, together with 20 Tengah residents, put the finishing touches on a social defence mural at the opening ceremony held at the Tengah Bus Interchange last Sunday (July 28).

Resident Cai Junxiong (39 years old) believes that this mural is very appropriate for the occasion. It was completed through cooperation and concerted efforts by everyone, reflecting the cohesion of the community.

The Tripartite Garden, a symbol of tripartite cooperation, opened on the same day

Along with the opening of the new bus interchange, the Tripartite Garden located in the interchange was also opened on the same day in the presence of everyone. The core sculpture of the garden was designed by E-Town Singapore President Toh Vincent, which consists of a bus engine and multiple gears, symbolizing the close cooperation between the tripartite parties to ensure the welfare of bus drivers. Koh Lian-chan, Land Transport Authority Director Wong Nam, National Transport Workers' Union Executive Secretary Yeoh Yi-choi, and Toh Vincent jointly planted three trees in the garden.

Yeoh later posted on Facebook: "This is the first time that a public bus interchange has such a tripartite garden, symbolising the strong collaboration and trust between unions, companies and government agencies."

He was also pleased with the smooth opening of the bus interchange, and pointed out that operating a new bus interchange is not easy, and bus drivers and passengers need to be familiar with the design of the interchange and the new bus routes.

16 additional trips will be added to Route 992 during evening peak hours

Xu Lianzhen announced that from now on, the 992 bus will provide 16 more round-trip services during the evening peak period (6pm to 10pm) to shorten the waiting time for passengers.

Although the new bus routes and frequency have brought convenience to residents, some residents still hope that the authorities can quickly launch buses that go directly to major subway stations to shorten their commuting time. Zeng Xueming (31 years old) said that her commuting time is as long as one and a half hours, of which the bus stops at the neighborhood station take up most of the time.
