29th October 2025 – (Singapore) Singapore is substantially expanding its network of mobile life-saving devices by equipping an additional fifty-two public buses with Automated External Defibrillators. This initiative raises the total number of fleet vehicles carrying the equipment to five hundred and forty-three.

The expansion forms part of the ongoing “AED-on-Wheels” programme, a collaborative effort between the government and private transport and logistics companies. Minister of State for Home Affairs Goh Pei Ming confirmed the development at a launch event on Tuesday, highlighting that participating drivers receive training in essential lifesaving techniques for medical emergencies.

Bus operator Tower Transit will install the new devices on services covering three specific routes. These routes were selected for traversing industrial zones and residential areas with higher concentrations of senior citizens, many of which are situated in more remote locations where emergency access can be challenging.

Minister Goh emphasised the critical importance of rapid response, noting that an individual’s survival probability following cardiac arrest decreases by seven to ten percent with each passing minute. He stated that AEDs have consistently demonstrated their vital role in determining outcomes during such medical emergencies.
